Decision Matrix

A formalized decision making process is recommended in all situations where you are making a complicated or life altering decision on behalf of the Client.

Examples include: relocation of a client from a home to a care facility, end of life decisions, the sale of an asset, the rental of an asset, the commencement of or the decision not to commence certain litigation on behalf of the client, the placement of pets/livestock, the engagement of in-home staff on behalf of the client, the hiring of third parties to assist with every-day activities, the decision of where to allocate resources/funds, decisions regarding visitation of family members and friends.

• Identify the Problem.
• Outline various options for resolving the problem.
• Specify various efforts made to effectuate the aforementioned options.
• Contact interested parties to advise them of the problem, possible solutions, and your efforts to effectuate a resolution which is in the best interests of the Client.
• Document the final decision in correspondence to the Client and/or interested persons.
• If applicable, seek Court approval prior to making a decision.
